REEF CEOs meet MEPs Anna Stürkgh and Thomas Pellerin-Carlin to discuss clean transition and energy security
On 1 July, the REEF CEOs were hosted by two Members of the European Parliament for a lunch meeting to discuss clean energy system resilience, investment priorities, and energy security in the context of evolving political dynamics.
The meeting with Anna Stürgkh (Renew/Austria) and Thomas Pellerin-Carlin (S&D/France) reflected on the changing political makeup of the Parliament and its potential impact on clean transition policies.
Energy security emerged as a core theme, with attention drawn to geopolitical threats and the need to treat the clean electricity value chain as strategic security assets. Recent events such as the Iberian blackout were seen as potential drivers for further grid collaboration at the EU level.
Discussions also covered the importance of maintaining political momentum behind the clean energy agenda. The value of cross-party engagement was highlighted as a safeguard against potential policy reversals.
